Build agents

Create managed agents, give them instructions, a model, tools and sub-agents, test them and wire them to channels.

Anyone with the right role can build and onboard a new agent for any system here, in minutes. Create it with its own instructions, model, context window and tools from any MCP server: the catalogue has ready-made ones, and any custom MCP server, OpenAPI operations or your organisation's own code can be added. Give it sub-agents, guardrails, a budget and an audit trail, then connect it to Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, web chat, the employee workspace, the mobile app or any other channel through triggers and the API. The solutions for the IT service desk, SAP, HR, Salesforce and finance are pre-built, tested starting points, not the limit.

An agent in Liyagent is anything that makes model calls through the gateway: the built-in Liya agents, managed agents that Liyagent runs for you, and self-managed agents that run elsewhere and call the gateway. They are all listed under Agents › All agents (/fleet), and each has its own page at /agent?id=<key> with six tabs:

TabWhat it holds
SettingsThe definition: Instructions, Engine, Model, Tools (a managed agent's runtime, run limits and sub-agents), Subagents, Context & memory, Posture, Workflows, Identity & tags, Agent card, Evaluations and Kill switch. Its views also include Context, Posture, Registry, History and Changes, plus Workflows (managed) or Credentials and Telemetry (self-managed)
TriggersThe channels that start it
PlaygroundTry it through the governed path
Cost & UsageIts calls, tokens and spend
TranscriptsIts conversations, with the Traces and Sessions views
PermissionsWho may use it and what it may reach

A link can open a view directly with ?tab=, for example /agent?id=copilot&tab=traces.

In this section

  • Create an agent

Create a managed agent from the Fleet page, give it an identity and first instructions, and start it.

  • Instructions and model

Write an agent's instructions, bind it to a provider and model, and set the run limits a managed agent works within.

  • Sub-agents

Let a managed agent delegate work to specialist sub-agents that spend its budget and inherit its limits, or run under tighter limits of their own.

  • Playground and evals

Try an agent interactively, compare variants, and measure it against versioned datasets before you ship a change.

  • Triggers

Connect an agent to Teams, Google Chat, a schedule, email, a webhook, Slack or ticket events, each with its own authentication and loop guard.

  • HR agents

Liya HR and Liya Onboarding answer HR questions as the employee (time off, holidays, their profile, onboarding, HR policy). Sensitive matters go to Human Resources.

  • Finance agents

Liya Finance checks vendor invoices against their purchase orders in NetSuite, Dynamics 365 Finance or Dynamics 365 Business Central, lists the invoices that differ beyond your tolerance, holds an invoice for AP review once a person approves, and answers spend questions from Ramp.

  • The Liyagent app for employees

Where the people in your organisation use their agents every day, at /workspace, on desktop and phone, installable as an app, with everything that needs them in one place.

  • Use Liya Meeting Preview

Get live answers to questions asked in your meetings, after everyone has been told Liya is listening, with a transcript you control.
